Research & Formulation
The scientific foundation of LoopFeed™ — a collaborative research programme with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) to develop, test, and validate the bioprocessing approach for West African agricultural systems.
- KNUST research partnership established
- Laboratory validation of fermentation protocols complete
- Nutritional analysis of core input materials conducted
- Feed safety and quality standards defined
- Core bioprocessing formulations confirmed
Research Partner: Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST), Ghana. Collaborative work on bioprocessing optimisation, nutritional analysis, and feed safety protocols for West African agricultural systems. Research Funding: RVO Netherlands (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland), supporting the scientific development of the LoopFeed™ system.
Technology Development
Translating laboratory science into a strong, repeatable production system. SheFarms developed the quality control frameworks, production protocols, and operational standards that underpin the LoopFeed™ circular feed system.
- Production technology and protocols developed and tested
- Quality control systems established
- Feedstock sourcing supply chains assessed in Lagos region
- Ikorodu facility, Lagos — operational base identified and secured
Lagos Circular Feed Programme
Our first real-world deployment of the LoopFeed™ system — engaging 400 smallholder livestock farmers through our Ikorodu hub in Lagos. This is where science meets farming: measuring performance, tracking adoption, and refining the circular feed model in practice.
- 400 farmers engaged — Ikorodu, Lagos
- Circular feed production at Ikorodu facility
- Agricultural residue supply partnerships active
- Farmer onboarding and support programme running
- Feed performance and cost data being collected
- Carbon emissions baseline measurement established at Ikorodu
Ubuntu Farms provides agricultural network and distribution expertise across our Lagos programme.
West Africa Scale
Informed by our Lagos programme, SheFarms will expand LoopFeed™ across a commercial network of production facilities in Nigeria and Ghana — reaching over 10,000 farmers and establishing circular feed as the standard for smallholder livestock nutrition across West Africa.
- Commercial production facilities — Ghana & Nigeria
- 10,000+ farmers across LoopFeed™ distribution network
- Regional residue sourcing hubs with agricultural processors
- Women-led farm participation programme — 65% target
- Carbon credit integration — valorising waste diversion and reduced feed emissions
- Sustainability certification and third-party carbon methodology validation
